You have to select the right power sprayer as per your yard size and garden particulars. Here is the brief guide and factors to consider while shopping for a power sprayer and then review best agricultural sprayer available in market.

Points to consider while choosing best agricultural sprayers

What to consider while choosing the best agricultural sprayers

There are some crucial factors and common attributes to consider when choosing the best spray pumps.

1) Sprayer Types: You have to choose type of sprayer base on your use.

· Knapsack power sprayer- As the name suggests, it has a sprayer tank to be hold on back and then use for spraying with its hose. It is designed in suitable way to use hassle-free.

· Handheld sprayer-As the name indicates, handheld sprayer are small in size with small plastic tank, and hold able wand. These are ideal for small gardens, or terrace garden where you can use the application by walking.

· Wheeled Sprayer- It includes a spray tank set on wheels that allows user to move it very easily in big farm area. It is a good choice to use in larger area as it holds more liquid than handheld or backpack sprayer.

· Battery-Operated Sprayer- It is a perfect replacement of manual sprayers as it comes with batteries. With battery operated sprayer you can manage the pressure of liquid flowing through spray nozzle. It reduces the need of periodically pumping to create pressure in tank. It has small electric motor which helps in creating pressure.

2) Pump size and tank capacity: A Pump sprayer varies with wand length and tank size. Wand length is important point of consideration for its comfortable use. It is the distance between user and the nozzle for effective use of applying pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals so that you don’t harm yourself. General size available in market is from 18 to 24 inches. Second point is tank capacity that varies from 1 gallon to 6 gallons. Handheld sprayers have less capacity while battery sprayers has larger.

3) Material of Sprayer body and tank: Pump sprayer materials must be strong enough to bear the hardness of chemicals for a longer time. Material should be so thick that it doesn’t passes the temperature or effect of pesticides on user. Most pump sprayer basins consist of heavy-duty plastic with wands that have brass, aluminium, or stainless steel nozzles. You can also go with plastic nozzles but it will not be durable and can crack or get faded any time. Nozzles or tank made of rust free metals won’t corrode, which makes them ideal for buying.

4) Weight of Sprayer: Since it is made for common use, must consider weight as a key point. Check it practically with empty model of sprayers. Obviously handheld sprayers are light weight because of small tank capacity while battery sprayers and wheeled sprayers can weigh upto 7–8 kilograms.

5) Nozzle Type: Nozzle determines the spray pattern and its output as per requirement. Try to purchase sprayers with adjustable nozzles that can rotate automatically clockwise or anticlockwise. If you want to use at varied crops at same field then go for sprayers with multiple nozzles. These are widely used for using different types of spraying applications as foaming nozzle, fan nozzles. Beside nozzle types, also consider their widths and size.

Tips for using Spray Pumps in an effective manner

To use any machine or equipment, you must follow basic tips and guidelines to maximize the use of a sprayer pump.

Ø Spraying must be downwind- As we gone through wand length, it is designed specifically to keep the direction for application downwind so that it doesn’t affect the person on their sensitive body parts as skin and eyes.

Ø Right Nozzle selection- Choose the wisest among the different sized nozzles available in market. You can select a wide fan nozzle to apply liquid application on long array of beds. To use in shrubs and bushes, use a foaming nozzle and use stream based nozzle to avoid wastage of liquids.

Ø Don’t over-pressurize the tank- Avoid this action if you are thinking for a great output because of this. If the sprayer doesn’t have an automatic pressure-relief valve, this can put more strain on the tank and the seal in the nozzle, damaging the seal and leading to leaks.

Ø Clean and depressurize when work gets done- After use depressurize the sprayer as with constant pressure leaks can get created. Use a pressure-relief valve or unscrew the lid slightly to allow the pressure to release before storing the sprayer.
